The Instruments

Specializing in acoustic fretted stringed instruments but with interests and experience in both bowed and plucked strings, I build a wide range of custom instruments, both acoustic and electric.

The Process

Joinery, carving, metalwork, inlay, polishing and a myriad of other disciplines and skills come together in the creation of each instrument.

Design

Rather than strive for replicas of exemplar instruments, I seek to instead synthesize a unique look, sound, and feel from the myriad of qualities that I’ve gleaned from studying countless instruments. In addition, I aim to utilize modern materials, techniques, and engineering principles to further shape my tonal profiles and construct more consistent and resilient instruments that stand the test of time.

Technology

While making a great instrument is very much an art and craft, science and technology can still play a pivotal role in attaining consistency and guiding the development and refinement of future designs and improvements.
